Grand Mesa Bowmen

This weekend, we are hosting the Grand Mesa Bowmen 3D Shoot. This is a huge competition of some of the best archers around. Due to the fact that people will be shooting arrows everywhere, the disc golf course will be closed this weekend. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Come up and watch the competition, eat at the Wildewood Restaurant, and shop the Alpine Trader!

The Olympics

Are you catching gold fever? It's hard not to. We just wish it were the winter olympics that were coming up. That would mean there's snow on the ground and we get to watch our snowboard team destroy the competition in the pipe.

Vancouver may already have snagged the next winter olympic games, but we are going for it for 2014! I think Powderhorn has a shot.

If we host, we will introduce:
Snowball fighting
Saucer sledding
Ski dancing
Roller derby on ice

What sports would you include?

Run Update

The guys are making good progress on the first of two new runs. This is the run that will go from Snowcloud to Redeye. We've determined that it will be about 2400 feet long and a blue/black mix.

Chipmunk On the Loose

We have a chipmunk on the loose in our administration offices today. He has provided us with some great entertainment so far. You can definitely tell where he is in the building by who is screaming, "there he is!" at the moment. Currently he is hiding out in the giant closet where we keep all our uniforms. We've created a food trail (made up of triscuits and granola) from the closet to the front door. So far, no success.

I have to say, this is the most exciting thing happening today.

Getting a New Look

Our website will soon be getting a new look along with quick access to some of your favorite features.

The process of designing a new website can be a little difficult. First you have to come up with an idea of what you want it to look like. Then you must present that idea to everyone and let them respectively rip it to shreds until a good/solid layout is created. Then you let the geeks...I mean super-smart-high-tech-web-designer people make it better.

The new site will have quick access to weather, snow report, and webcams on every page. The home page will also have a quick link to the store so purchasing your season pass is quick and easy. Look for great items from the Alpine Trader in the store this season too! You will even be able to take a flyover tour of Bill's Run on the site. So if you just can't get out and ski...you could at least fake it.

We also have a few other ideas for fun things to add....but they're in the Top Secret file for now (aka the "In Case There's Extra Money In the Budget" file).

Building a Run

Work has begun on the new runs for the 08-09 season! Our crew started with the shorter of the two runs. This run will shoot off of Snowcloud and join with Redeye. It leaves Snowcloud around the area where Mad Dog Glade ends. Looks like it opens up access to even more tree skiing adventures!

Season Pass Update

We've had some phone calls requesting to purchase season passes now. Just hold your horses though please! We don't even have the season passes designed yet....working on it though. Designing the passes is always a fun project each year. We try to use both a ski and snowboard picture and something that helps distinguish the difference for our ticket checkers. Often, a prank pass or two gets developed before we really crack down to business. Here is one we wanted to do for our employee pass a couple years ago. It got vetoed pretty fast.

If you've ordered a season pass in the last 2 years, you will receive a postcard in the mail around July 25th reminding you that it's almost time to purchase. If you'd like to check out the prices now, click here.
